‘Incontri a Sutri’ is the latest in a series of annual museum shows at Palazzo Doebbing, presenting 250 artworks displayed throughout the museum’s vast spaces, with artists from medieval to contemporary times including prestigious names like Giotto, Titian, and Gherardo delle Notti. Also presented are 9 exhibits by contemporary painters and sculptors selected by the curators for the occasion, including this exhibition of works by Justin Bradshaw.

"…Justin Bradshaw, a British painter who settled some years ago in Civita Castellana, is a surprising artist. This patient, inspired painter moves within the limited confines of his home studio and the endless ones of his mind. Justin is a consummate painter of reality who discovers sensual (rather than conceptual) absolutes in everyday objects while, without complacency, fostering a considerable virtuosity. He aims to impress. His realism is by no means photographic, but rather dense, noumenic, identifying, and essential, in its description of objects. His portraits and self-portraits almost inevitably bring to mind Lucian Freud. With his presentation in contemporary clothing of Herod’s Banquet he moves with formidable immediacy in a genre that is pregnant with unexpected solutions, in parallel with the experience of Italian painters like Rocco Normanno and Giovanni Gasparro…"
